@Yummy

Porting a landline is a fairly simple process however there are a few steps that can ensure it avoids any hiccups. Contacting your landline provider ahead of time as suggested by @esjliv to find out if it will affect any bundling discounts is important. You can also obtain the specific phone number they use for customers to verbally authorize landline ports.

Once you activate your pm sim card with a temporary number* and you ensure all of the pm services are working and your self serve account is set up and accessible then you can port in the landline by using the change number feature in your account.

Check the box that you are authorized to port the phone # and enter:

Full name on the account.

Landline phone # to be ported.

Landline account #.

Alternate phone #. (Optional but this serves as an additional account identifier and though rarely it may be used by pm to call you if they encounter an issue porting the number.)

After submitting your request immediately call the number provided to you from your carrier to verbally authorize your porting request.

Then wait....most landline ports will be completed within two business days but can take up to 7 days+ to complete in some cases. Once you can no longer recieve calls on your landline you know the porting process is complete.

*While you can port the landline number upon activation porting it in afterwards just ensures that if you encounter an activation or provisioning issue it can be resolved beforehand so you have no interruption to your landline service.

Check your private messages as I will send you advice on maximizing your savings when activating your newest pm account.😁

I would like to find definitive answer for porting land line number.

I would appreciate to hear experience (in forum or private message) from somebody who ported Real Land Line number to PM.

What puzzles me is will companies sending short verification codes actually be able to send it to ported Land Line number.

From experience, when provided land line number companies detect it is Not mobile and reject request to provide verification number.

So my concern is if I port land line I will not be able to receive those verification numbers.

Thus, if there is anybody who did port Land Line (no voip or similar! REAL Land line from Bell or whoever provided land lines) AND is able to receive short verification codes, I would like to hear from you!

HI @Yummy , ported land line can receive text message/short codes (once it is ported into PM). It will take as many as a full week for the system to discover that your landline is ported and send you text

Although the phone number was originally a landline , but once it changed hand, PM will updated its database and take "ownership" of the line and hence other can send short code. It will take a week or so because the new information has to populated and updated across and it might take time

Hi @Yummy - I ported from a Bell landline. But this was before the text verification was being done.

In my case, I let Bell know about the porting because I was currently bundling my services with them. So I had to arrange a package deal with the remaining services with Bell.

If you are bundled in anyway with your landline provider, I would suggest to contact them first so you don't get slammed with surprised, higher prices.

I activated the PM SIM and ported over during the activation process using the Bell account number. It went very smoothly. I was very happy with the process. A few days all was complete.

Good luck!

Check your land line number here

If it is a land line.....I don’t know how it would be considered by others as a mobile line. Unless you advertise it or tell people.

I can tell you this....my Telus land line was ported to voip.ms then to Public Mobile. Spammers seem to select mobile numbers to target. My x land line now a wireless mobile land line has not been spammed.
