Hi,

I have to port my number from virgin upon activation and then get the SIM card shipped to me arriving a few days later. I will be using my son's spare phone til it gets here. Once activated and ported can I get my number call forwarded to my son's spare phone/number so I can still receive my calls while the SIM card is in transit?

Thank you for your help.

I guess I didn't make myself perfectly clear. My Virgin account is currently active. My 30-day plan expires on the night of the 23rd. I plan on getting a retailer to activate a new SIM card tomorrow and port my phone number in.

@Anonymous

Thank you for telling me about having to answer YES to the SMS text from Virgin to port my number. That had not occurred to me. So hopefully once I reply yes to the text my number will port in to my new pm account and SIM card. Then I am hoping the retailer can call forward my phone number to my son's number before they ship my SIM card. Does this seem feasible?

Either buy it and activate yourself (for plans $35 and above) or have them activate for you ( and get the free sim , very likely they will offer) for plans $25 or below

You ordered yet? I think CCS can activate the SIM first before sending the SIM to you. Call them. If they have not send you the SIM yet, they can activate, port the number and forward the number . But call them and see what they can do .

@Namu

Ahh....I have activated with CCS in the past with an activation bundle and they sent me an activated SIM card via Canada Post. It took 5 business days to arrive from Toronto to Vancouver. However I did not port in a phone number until after the sim card arrived then I ported in my neighbours phone number after it arrived.

The gentleman who runs CCS is very friendly and helpful. Make sure you co-ordinate with him the timing of your activation and port in of your phone number so you don't miss the PAT (porting authorization text) to reply YES within 90 minutes. Once CCS assures you all your services are up and running I don't see why they couldn't call forward your number if they don't mind putting your SIM card in a working phone to do so. Perhaps discuss this with them when you set up a time to activate the SIM card.

Just to be sure of the process check back in here to your thread for advice from our resident voicemail expert @Nezgar on how to best call forward your number or tell CCS how best to do it in case they don't normally fulfill this request. I hope everything goes smoothly for you.

Welcome to the public mobile community!😃

I will await a reply from @Nezgar as to the proper way and then ask the owner if he can also do this for me.

Poof ☁️🎇✨ I was apparently summoned... 😁

@Namu Call forwarding is easy... you can find "unconditional" forwarding it in the phone app menu's somehere, or dial the programming code directly. For example:

*21*1234567890# - to forward all calls to 1234567890. (Any 10/11 digit number in Canada) At this point the forwarded phone doesn't even need to be on anymore.

##21# to undo the unconditional call forwarding so calls will now arrive at the original phone.

So I understand it....the OP can get the owner of CCS to pop the SIM card in his phone or a spare phone. Call forward the OP's freshly ported in phone number to her son's extra number and then take out the sim card and pop it in an envelope with lots of clear scotch tape (Lol!) and put in the Canada post box for pick up to ship to the OP. Anyone calling the former virgin number now pm number will ring straight thru to the OP on her son's spare phone/number. Correct?

@darliciousYep, though if porting a number into that phone while the SIM is in the posession CCS I would make a couple incoming test calls to confirm the incoming calls part of the porting works, and THEN get them to forward it.....

Thank you @Nezgar and @darlicious you have been so helpful! I talked to the gentleman from Canadian cell supplies and once my number is ported into the SIM card he said he will put it in his phone and will do a couple test calls to make sure everything's working and then he will call forward it to my son's extra number and pop it in the mail. He couldn't have made it easier.
