Can anyone confirm that iMessage works with phone number on a plan with international texting?

I heard people were having issues with iMessage and Facetime activation due to the fact that they were unable to send international text messages, however now that this feature is available can anyone confirm that this issue has been fixed? Can you send imessages from your number not email

I can't Confirm, since I have NO iphone.

BUT, My BEST guess with Global text should be YES

But I cannot guarantee that

I have an iPhone but just noticed have iMessage turned off, however my understanding of the situation is the following:

iMessage does not need text in order to send/receive, rather it requires Internet connection, either wifi or your cell phone data plan; see here http://www.ianswerguy.com/imessage-sent-as-sms-text-message/ It is the phone that recognizes whether your recipient can receive an SMS, or only email version.

Other threads point out that turning iMessage on will generate sms error messages from PM for several days until the Apple servers accept your phone cannot accept sms from the UK. Given the new international text option, one would assume that error would no longer occur.

If you elect to try it out, please let us all know what happens.

@vtzankov An update to yesterday's post: IMessage works fine for me. Just tested it sending between my iPod and iPhone.

iPhone settings are:

iMessage: on BUT not using iCloud account

SMS: on when iMessage not available

MMS: on

The iPod did not accept the iPhone phone number to initiate a call, but received a msg and could reply.

Tested with iPhone in wifi and cell data modes; both worked.

I do not have the international texting plan.

Hi I have no issue for a new account just have data plan for the imessage. I just activated 3 days ago.
