Why are text messages to special services like CAA, AEROPLAN considered international?

Case in point, I tried to send a text message to AEROPLAN's subscription service at 27767 and got the following reply:

Public Mobile here. Sorry we do not offer text messaging outside of Canada at this time.

As we know, AEROPLAN is a purely Canadian initiative by Air Canada.

Public Mobile is a canadian prepaid service.

The system doesn't allow you to send SMS to special numbers / offers / 5 digits number.

Premium and subscription-based messages, and messaging to and from non-Canadian numbers, are not included.

Thanks for the clarification.

In my past experiences with other providers, it hasn't been a case with prepaid lines. At least free services were included.

@Cyber, Technically, you're Half-Wrong, Half-Right

FB, Twitter, TTC are some of the SMS ShortCodes that PM does Interact with.

PM may always Add more in the Future. Nothings Set in Stone 110% YET

Good to know that other free special services are included like Twitter, Facebook and TTC.

In this case, I would like to raise AEROPLAN number to be included as well.

You can receive SMS from these sites, but why would like to send SMS to them ?

Two use cases:

To initially subscribe and verify your number for ALERTS, PROMOS etc.
To save on data costs when posting tweets on Twitter or Facebook status changes.

I see and I understand why people want to SMS these sites instead of spending 1MB of DATA to tweet that the dog spends the day in the pool with a beer and update your current status on FB that you are going in the shower.

These sites are so useful in life...

YOU see @Cyber, FB does have a purpose. Never rule OUT Services that may be the biggest thing since Life Alert was invented
