@Luz Try rebooting or toggling airplane on/off. You can also power off phone and remove your SIM, after a minute or two reinsert SIM and restart your phone.

did you check if any chance you are in Airplane mode? Can you confirm both voice call and data are working?

@Luz :First thing to do is figure out if the problem is with Public or with your phone etc, so start off by trying different things to eliminate possibilities.

1. Can you try your SIM card in another phone to see if that changes anything?

2. Log into self serve just to confirm everything ok there.

3. Test all other things like incoming outgoing calls etc.

Let us know what you find out so we can help find out what's wrong.

My phone is not in Airplane mode.

Since I am at home, my mobile data is off.

I forgot to mention earlier that the text function does not work only when I am out of the house. As soon as I am back home, that's the only time I can see the text that was sent to me. I don't have data when I go out.

@Luz : If this is an iphone then maybe the SMS setting got turned off in iMessage.

Mine is not iphone. I have LG Q6 Smartphone. Does that make sense?

Try clearing your cache in your texting app. Go to your settings>>apps>>messages>>storage>> clear cache. See if this helps.

Are you using a texting app that requires mobile data or wifi like textnow?

@Luz , if this feature that @Anonymous posted is on, I would recommend turning it off.

Open Messages.
Tap More options > Settings > Chat features.
Turn Enable chat features off.

@RosieR Yes I know, but there were more than one suggestion there and it would be nice to know which one actually fixed OP's problem. Or could be that even the wrong post was picked for a solution?
