It would be nice if that was possible, but it's not. So, as previous posts said, your wife cannot inherit your account and will have to create new one. Maybe it's not bad idea to use your referral code to get 10$ credit for her new account. Then port it out and that account will be 'closed'.

If I were to change my PM number first, could I ask Bell to assign my old number without porting? I did a reverse lookup and it’s still listed as my original Bell landline.

Unfortunately, if you change your number within your PM account, you officially forfeit your existing telephone number, leading you to lose both your number and your account on porting. There isn't a clean way of doing this, sorry!

You may want to consider whether Bell's offer is really worth losing your account. You can try and see/ask if Public Mobile can help with any of it but honestly, the system is designed to move you from one place to another instead of keeping "copies" of your service as you move forward.

To gain your custom they may go the extra mile. If you changed the number in your pm account the phone number ( your former landline) is then sent back to the original provider. In your case luckily this is Bell. It would be sent to their number pool which holds numbers usually for 60 to 90 days before reassignment. Working with Bell they could in theory retrieve your phone number from the pool and assign it to your new account. You would want to co-ordinate the timing of changing the pm phone number in the account with Bell. Call Bell and see if they would be willing and able to do this for you. Good luck.

(this is getting complicated... lol :))

Finally, one other issue. If Bell is able and willing to help, they would still need to identify that you're the owner of this Telephone Number. If you've released it from your account, then "nobody" really owns it so make sure to have everything figured out before doing anything.

Even if everybody tells you and is willing to help, there's still a big risk that the number gets lost or is otherwise still inaccessible despite all efforts from everyone.

Get a SIM card for your wife, open a new account for your wife with the referral code from your own account to save the $10

2. Now, once wife account is setup, open the Bell account , if not yet done so, and start requested to port your OLD PM number into Bell

3. Once Bell completed the transfer, your own PM account will be closed.

Yes, with this , your own account will be closed and you will loss all your refer friend bonus + loyalty discount. Unfortunately, this is the safest way to keep your account.

There might be other ways like the number will be back in the Bell's pool and you can get your number back with Bell's help or after 60 days or so. But all these have a risk of loosing your account. Unless you know someone in Bell and promise you they can get the number back, i won't risk it.
