Sorry folks. Have not read entire topics to see if this issue has been discussed yet but i am really looking to have a kind of caller ID associated with my number

As of now for me, and most of you, if you call someone and you are not in their contact list, they only see your number and most dont pick up

any success having your name pop up? Like how its usually on landlines

@nishant3113 Sorry, PM only shows your number for outgoing calls and I doubt that will change anytime soon. As you noted as long as others have your name saved in their contact list, they will be able to know who's calling.

@nishant3113 hi Public doesn't offer caller id as you say must be in your/their list

@nishant3113 While I'm not 100% certain, I believe Rogers offers outgoing call display to it's customers. But, of course, that usually comes with paying more for your phone bill too.. 😊

@dabr @nishant3113 I can't confirm about Rogers, but their sub-brand Fido definitely has this. I used to have an account in my name that was for my mother (I pay for her line still, but now with Public Mobile as of about 14 or 15 months ago). Originally, it used to display my name (as it defaults to the account owner's name) when she made outbound calls to landlines or people that did not have her saved as a contact, but I was able to set a custom name in the Fido self-serve account system. So, it's definitely possible at Fido, and presumably with Rogers as well. Not sure about Chatr.

Name display (incoming and outgoing) is a Rogers and Fido wireless exclusive (except prepaid). It doesn't work at Chatr.

I know we're taking about the name being transmitted in the other direct, but Public Mobile customers are able to see the name for an incoming call of the caller as transmitted by the other carrier, if that carrier does send it.

I came to PM from Rogers in 2019, and indeed Rogers had outgoing name display. In fact, you can customize the name you'd like to show in their customer portal too. I had a little fun with it by entering "Darth Vader" for a while and then later "Santa Claus" over a Christmas season. The fun ended when I found after 5 changes I could no longer do it through the portal, and had to call customer service to get them to just put my own name back. 😂
