Unlocking Brandnew Phone(prepaid) wait time

Im looking to replace my current phone and was looking at getting the Lg k32, Was wondering if I bought it prepaid from koodoo or telus if I would be able to have it unlocked immediately or if there is a wait period?.

There is no wait period. However, the phone should already be unlocked. In most cases, Telus-locked device don't need to unlocked to use them at Public Mobile, regardless.

Thank you! I am going to go with one from Chatr and wondering if there was a way I can find out if it the "bands" are compatible as it is not showing up on the search list on public mobile
