There are add-ons for talk or text or data or bundles thereof. They last for 10 days.

Buying add-ons is an un-intuitive 2 steps. Deposit money and then buy the add-on. The first step seems like you've bought the add-on.

You can't pre-buy. They're active as soon as you buy them.

Don't stack multiples of the same add-on function.

Once you leave Canada, your Public Mobile accounted phone won't work unless

you can get a 10 Day US talk/text/data options that has been suggested already.

Public Mobile only has roaming options for US, no other countries...yet.

You can also use free voip apps like TextNow that allow calls / texts over wifi. I'm sure there's other apps but I've used TextNow and works good for me.
