Constant 611 text reminder

Hi,

I'm constantly getting a text from 611 reminding me that Public doesn't offer international texting every 10 mins or so. Any way to stop these? I could block the number on my phone but I want 611 messages.Thanks!

Hey @JayCaps

Are you using an iPhone?
If so there's been a few other posts about this, in order for an iPhone to activate iMessage it requires an internal text message to be sent outside of Canada. I believe if you turn off iMessage in the settings of the phone it should eventually stop sending that message about international text messaging.

If you're not using an iPhone I'm not entirely sure what would cause that to happen, unless you're located very close to an American/Canadian border in which case the phone may be attempting to roam.

^A simple rule on all Forums is to use the search function, 99% of the time your question has been asked numerous times and an answer has been provided numerous times. Had you done a Simple search on this forum you would have had an instant answer.

Any idea how long it takes for the text messages from 611 to stop? I just switched my wife's iPhone 5 to PM, turned off iMessage and Face Time and she is still receiving the texts.

@JayCaps PM is aware of the issue and there was a discussion in the ideas section of the public lab subsection of the forum. PM was asking if iMsg was a big deal for its subscribers and they were thinking about activation of the text number.

Might want to add your voice to the thread.

For me it took about a two days. It slowly comes to a stop, from my experience.

Disable iMessage to avoid these text reminders.
