Unfortunately Public Mobile does not sell phones as @JoyLuck mentioned.

Telus owns Koodo and Public Mobile. You can consider joining Koodo as they sell phones.

Or just buy one that is compatible with PM network. Lots of options you have.

PM does no sell phone.

Comparing to Roger, PM is month-to-month and prepaid. Rogers requires 2 year contract in order to get a subsidized phone. There is no free lunch here. You are pay for your phone with your expensive plan for 2 years.

I prefer to pay for my phone and get a plan which I can afford.

You do know that that phone is not free right? It may have some discount with you being locked into a 2 year agreement. But it ain't free. You pay for the device over time along with your service plan.

Financing: 0% APR on approved credit with a device financing agreement (DFA) and a Rogers Infinite plan. DFA based on full price plus applicable taxes less any Upfront Edge Amount (excluding promo credits, if applicable, which are applied monthly on your bill for as long as your DFA is in place); if your DFA is terminated your outstanding financing balance becomes due. If your wireless plan is cancelled, the outstanding financing balance becomes due along with your Upfront Edge Amount (if applicable). The promo credit (if applicable) will end in both cases. A security deposit of up to $450 may be required.

Upfront Edge: Program consists of purchase of eligible phone on Rogers Infinite plans with financing; Upfront Edge amount is applied after taxes to lower monthly financing program payments. You must return phone in good working condition (must power up to the home screen, accept a charge, and have the ability to perform a factory reset; LCD/touchscreen must be functioning and cannot have any dark spots, blemishes or broken and/or cracked glass; all accounts and passwords must be removed and/or turned off; device cannot have been reported lost or stolen) during month 24 (or in months 13-24 while upgrading to a new phone with financing), otherwise Upfront Edge Amount will be charged to your account. Cancelling your services during your 2-year Upfront Edge term will result in charging of Upfront Edge Amount, in addition to your outstanding financing balance. Early Cancellation Fee (applicable to Term Services only). An Early Cancellation Fee(ECF) applies if you were given a device subsidy when you agreed to your new term, and if, for any reason, your wireless service or your new term is terminated prior to the end of the term of your Service Agreement (Service Agreement Term). The ECF is equal to the device subsidy multiplied by the number of months remaining in your Service Agreement Term divided by the total number of months of your Service Agreement Term (plus applicable taxes). In other words, ECF = Device Subsidy x # months left in your Service Agreement Term ÷ Total # months in your Service Agreement Term + applicable taxes.

even after the end of your 2 year contract you will still have to fork out more money to own the phone outright. or you can trade your device and opt for a newer one. again, you still need to give back the phone and pay more money for the newer version. it's basically lease to own for cellphones. this offer is not for a free phone. you will need to return it to them in good condition.

A big downside with carrier-subsidized phones is the pre-loaded bloatware and configuration. Software-locked, vendor-locked, carrier-locked. You own that locked phone after you've made all the payments and - after calls and emails, waiting on hold or in lineups, repeated explanations, dealing with salespeople or the retention staff - be able to use that phone on another carrier.

Most people find out their phones are carrier-locked (and not so easy to get unlocked as CRTC Wireless Code decrees) when they first see the "Invalid SIM" they bought along with a killer promo from another carrier.

IPhone 11 Pro $1175÷24 months=$48.95 So what do you get for the other $61.05 other than free financing? For $50/8.5gb with public mobile ($48 w/autopay) you'll save $12.05 per month or $289.20 over the life of your contract plus $12 in loyalty rewards you would earn for your second year with pm. That's if you get offered the same plan with your contract. The taxes alone on $110 would be $13.20/bc, $14.30/ont, $16.50/the maritimes of which all are more expensive than pm s cheapest plan $15 ($13 w/autopay). Then there's those overages, late payment fees, interest......

Ouch now do the math....$849÷24=$35.37 so you'll be paying $74.63 for your plan? If you buy the phone outright and get the $40/4.5gb pm plan ($38 w/autopay) you'll save $36.63 ×24 months = $879.12 more than the cost of the phone. So essentially go with rogers and pay for two iPhones but only get one. Thats a new twist on the 2 for 1 deal.....sure works out well for Rogers!

The whole appeal of subsidized phones is not having to pay the cost of the phone upfront. If you are "approved" and agree to long-term payments then you can even walk away from the store with a brand new working phone without any upfront payment at all.

A lot of people always want the latest iPhone or Galaxy but also always don't have $$$$ to spend on the latest iPhone or Galaxy.

I realise the appeal for the latest greatest which this is only kind of sort of the latest iphone....but if your credit is good enough to qualify for such a contract then it's likely good enough to find other financing options to purchase the phone outright. By opening the OP's eyes to the real cost of a "free" phone they will save (in this case) the cost of buying two phones!

There is the option of purchasing the phone in four installments with no interest and a small processing fee. (And releasing some financial info to a third party.....but it's better to pay $20 extra rather than $880!) If you can afford $110 + tax per month for phone service surely the OP can tighten their belt for a couple of months to pay $215 in four payments. Data diet! Take the $15 pm plan.......that saves $100+tax in 4 months along with $110×4=:$440 from the rogers contract. $540 saved already.....the OP only has to find $329 more over the next 4 months. Skip the extra large Timmy's coffee everday will save an additional $305. Only $24 more to save....oh wait enable autopay save $8. $16 save $1 more per week and you have bought yourself that new phone in four short months! See it wasnt that hard!

Activate now at Wal-Mart with a referral code and you get a free sim card and a free month! Take the $40 plan and switch to the $15 after the first 30 days. By taking this deal you'll pay upfront $40+tax but after 4 months of service you'll still be up by $25 then if you bought a sim card and paid for 4 months of the $15 plan. New iPhone bought and paid for in four months! And the money you saved from not going with rogers will pay for 20 more months of autopay enabled $40 plan from pm including tax. $848.80.

Rogers free phone and plan $110×24=$2620 +tax ($340.60)=$2960.60

It can be better choice if (phone plus plan) bundled together ends up costing less or giving more than (phone) plus (plan) purchased separately.

Sometimes the phone does end up costing less this way. Or it's unavailable any other way. Or it's the only way the provider allows useful features like VoLTE/etc. Or it's attached to a better plan/promo you just can't buy separately.

It might even be a convenience thing. If it all costs the same in the long run then why rush to take the money out of your pocket right away, hang onto it until payment is actually due. Especially if you would have chosen to stay with that provider anyways (or you don't particularly care which provider you pay).

But I think for most it's a trap. Always buying on credit means always paying consumer debt. These contracts typically don't cost less overall, they typically aren't better deals - because they don't have to be, too many people just never have enough cash in pocket to afford these fashions and these toys at these prices.

But if the OP is looking at and asking these questions here at pm then cost savings and price are front of mind. Hopefully @liangc1020 Will look at the math and make the most sensible decision. But to each his own.
