You would need to gather official receipts from Public Mobile (you need to specifically ask for them) and then submit them to CRA to get refunded.

Here is info on how to get a receipt from Public Mobile. I’m not certain how this will work out though as I am not certain this will show tax paid. I think it will show tax though...

I am tax exempt at eastlink, I had to submit a form that they supply and did not have to be in contact with CRA. I was wishful that it would have been just as easy with Public Mobile.

I don't know what kind of plan you have at eastlink - postpaid or prepaid.

PM service is prepaid. If you purchase topup voucher, PM has no control over how sales tax is collected.

Do you get tax exempted at retails store? If you don't pay sales tax at store, it may be the easy solution to buy topup voucher. You still can get the $2 autopay discount as long as your autopay is enabled. PM server will not take money out from your autopay cc as long as your have enough available fund to pay for your plan fee.

Tax exemption for aboriginals makes me feel that I am a less a Canadian. However it's there for the taking so take advantage of it. I think the best way to do this is to buy voucher top-up cards from retailers and just show them your status card for tax exemption.

Of-course you could as long as you didn't get Canadian citizenship. One of my friends, even though he has been a Canadian resident for many years has opted not to obtain Canadian citizenship and has kept his German citizenship. He has several tax benefits and he tells me the only draw back is that he can not vote.

Visitors to Canada may qualify for a refund of some of the Goods and Services Tax/Harmonized Sales Tax (GST/HST) they have paid during their visit in Canada.

A resident isn't a visitor. In any event, I'm not sure how this relates to taxes paid by native people.

This applies to First Nations peoples of Canada. This act recognizes certain groups for which the rules apply:

@gblackma I think the word aboriginal has been commonly used to refer to most of the people who were first human inhabitants of countries like Canada and Australia (maybe also New Zealand). But you're right that in Canada first nations people are more likely to be referred to as indigenous or Native Canadians and the word aboriginal is in more common usage in Australia. So OP's usage of that word doesn't have to mean that they are Australia's original inhabitants, or at least that's how I read it. 😊

The federal Act is a holdover of colonial times that really should be renamed. And other terms written here.

Maybe, and I don't disagree, but that is the still the official name. Referring to it by another name would be inaccurate.

I have not bothered asking Public Mobile the process however I do use my Native status card for my Koodo accounts. They emailed a paper to sign and forward it back to them along with a photocopy of the card.

I say this as Telus owns Koodo and Public mobile. So I would assume the process should be as simple as Koodo was.

That's a good question as it relates to if an account holder's identity was veriified in any way at the time of activaiton. For prepaid accounts, that doesn't get done. I know that for a postpaid account, the phone could still be given to someone else to use, but the person whose identify was used to open the account is who is ultimately responsible for making sure that the bill is paid.
