US/Canada Long distances Add-on Usage Balance Verification

Hi,

I have a provincial-wide (Ontario) unlimited calls plan. The Usage Balance shown seems a lot off than expected. How can I verify my out of province calls? I have tried browsing thru the phone usage history but it's really lengthy and time consuming.

Please advise.

@ashleyau try sorting your usage history by "Destination location" by clicking on the heading. The out of province calls should be listed as long distance.Stay safe.

@ashleyau Logging into selserve.publicmobile.ca will display the amount of long distance munutes remainig within the data and add-ons category.

@ashleyau calls are rounded up to the nearest minute ie 1 minute 1 second is counted as 2 minutes. Here's an article on limited minut plans. https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/on/get-help/articles/limited-talk-and-text-plans

@ashleyau you should also to add the TextNow voip app and use it via Wifi to make / receive / send calls and texts in Canada and to the United States for free. You can also use it as I do to check my voicemail from my own phone without using the minutes from the PM plan. Simply dial your PM phone number - reject the call when it rings (this sends the call to voicemail) - press the * key to allow you to enter your password. - enter it followed by # - and you are in your voicemail account - Hang up when you are finished. No minutes used.

as long as you have an active plan...you can also get 500 minutes of Canada wide calling for $5. Those 500 minutes will stay on your account until you use them up...even if that takes several months. It's a great addition if you want to keep your current Province wide calling plan.

@ashleyau You wouldn't be using that number to check your voicenail if travelling to Nova Scotia. The correct access number is set at the account level and doesn't change because of travels.

Hmm. I would think that the "Default" voicemail deposit/access number would always remain accessible no matter where you are in Canada, with a province-wide plan. The only way to know for sure without trying to sift through the call logs is to note your remaining minutes on the self-serve overview page, make a test call of less than 1 minute, then refresh the overview page to see if it reduced your available long distance minutes.

I'm curious your findings when dialing your default "HOME" voicemail access number (usually just by holding "1" in the dialer) would be considered an "out of province" call if you are visiting a different province.

If indeed such a call deducts from your canada-wide pool when calling your "home" voicemail access number when outside the province, then it would be good to make note of the local voicemail access numbers available across Canada as @gblackma linked to that you could refer to to ensure it is an in-province call.

@Nezgar .. I have tried leaving myself a voicemail and then checked and listened to my voicemail. Logged out and logged in again, the remaining minutes on the self-serve overview page is still the same. Wonder how long it would take to update it.

@ashleyau put your phone on aeroplane mode for 5 minutes and take it off. Then log back into your self service account. It should have updated.

For voice calls, if they consume minutes, the change will reflect on the self-serve Overview page immediately after the call ends on the next refresh of the page. If you want to see for sure make a call for a few seconds to an out-of-province number, and confirm if you see your available minutes deduct by 1 or not.
