I have an Apple iPhone 4s that only supports a 3g connection. Is anyone else using an older phone like this on this plan?

Yes this phone will work but you will need to get it unlocked. You will not have access to emergency announcements from the government, but other than that it will be fine.

So unlock the phone and you'll be good! 🙂

@Sharon6 there are mixed reviews about it on the forum. I would try using a different phone if possible.

edit: with a little bit of troubleshooting, if you have too, this phone will work. no harm in trying.

As mentioned it will need to be unlocked, unless it was purchased at the Apple store or from Telus. iPhone 4s are rock solid. If you need help to unlock let me know. I have unlocked many of them.

Thanks for your feedback.I don't know anything about unlocking a phone. Do I have to get a SIM card and activate it before I can unlock the phone?

Sharon you'll. need to unlock the phone prior to getting a SIM. You can google how to unlock a iPhone 4s. Do you know what provider you had when you previously used it?

No SIM card yet. Let’s make sure it is useable as is or needs to be unlocked.

Do you have a computer with iTunes installed?

You need to find imei number. It is on SIM card tray or best is to go into settings, about and scroll down.

In settings about does it say what carrier it was on?

Is there a SIM card in the sim tray?

Try your imei number in this web site

Does it tell you the original Carrier or does it say it is unlocked.

I am an iphone fan, the 4s is older, but still great, awsome phone, the question, here is it unlocked, or locked to Telus, If locked to other providers if you call the provider now they do it free of charge, ive done that with iphone 5s locked to Rogers, not sure if this is available all across Canada.
