Are you paying by credit card? It sounds like the retailer is charging a surcharge for convenience or passing on the merchant credit card service fee onto you. This is a common practice by convenience stores when using a credit card to pay for low profit margin items such as cigarettes, lottery tickets and payment vouchers.

There is tax on top of the price of the plan.

You can get a discount for setting up auto-pay. Anyother promos and discounts get credited to your account after signing up.
