Going to Vegas today

I have the 40 dollar plan, here is what i forget . does that plan cover my data if i am not connected to wifi while i am there, and can i already text while i am there,I realize i can not call out but do i get a call in thanks i need to know quick,

$40 per 30 Days

@tomgirlbc To make calls and send texts from the US you need the 10 day Us $15 roaming add on. The $20 one to add 250 mb text. Purchasing an add on is a 2 step process. You would need a us roaming add-on.

You should be receiving texts but can't call or send it use data.

I suggest install TextNow and forward your calls to your free Canadian TextNow number.

You will be able to call and text when on Wi-Fi there. You will receive your calls while on WiFi and your texts should be coming in due to a glitch.

Make sure when you put your TextNow number instead of the voicemail (when busy unreachable unanswered) while here you will get calls as usual butt once you lose connection it was go to your TextNow number.

When you come back just wipe out and the system will populated it with voicemail number

While in the USA without a roaming add-on:

You can receive texts, but cannot send
You cannot receive or make calls. Calls to your number will NOT go to voicemail, but will either ring forever or give fast-busy.
Call forwarding will also stop working as soon as your phone registers to a US network. (Calls will again either ring forever or give fast-busy)
The only way to ensure calls continue to forward or go to voicemail is to put phone in airplane mode prior to leaving Canada, or remove the SIM.

A n active USA roaming add-on solves all of these issues, except that you still cannot change call forwarding options while in the USA.

Okay thanks, so even my plan i wont have any coverage in the usa, cause it does say international texting

Sorry you have to be on telus network otherwise you would need roaming

Those are all Canada plans

We are all waiting patiently for the comeback of the roaming plan. Last year it was 60 unlimited talking and texting both in Canada and USA, 8gigs if Canadian and 2 gigs of USA data. Many are hoping we'll have something similar as it disappeared very quickly with very short announcement.

I believe there will be more of that coming

International text on your regular plan means you are able to send text to and receive text from international countries that are listed while you are in Canada. The receiving of text while in the U.S. is a glitch and technically should not be possible.

As mentioned, currently there is no plan that offers coverage while in the U.S.. You need an Add-on for that.

You could also take a plan (and temp phone number) with a local prepaid carrier. Could cost less if you need need to buy multiple US Roaming add-ons (you need multiple services, your trip exceeds 10 days, etc).

If you have a dual-SIM phone then you can even reactivate this plan on future trips to USA (assuming it hasn't been inactive long enough to be terminated).

Tello has plans from $7/month (100 minutes USA calling, Unlimited North America text) to $10/month (Unlimited USA & Canada & Mexico calling, Unlimited International text, 1GB 4G data) to $35 (with 10GB 4G data, etc) and beyond ... although you'd need to buy a Tello SIM card ($10) and all prices are in USD. There are a few even cheaper/better plans and providers but they're only for local city or state residents.

Receiving text messages in the USA without a roaming add-on is not a glitch. It is an officially included feature, as per this help article:

However, voicemail and call forwarding will not work for incoming calls without a calling roaming add-on - they will either get a fast-busy or ring forever until the phone registers again back in Canada.
