@Tkay is it one particular number or everyone? If it's one particular number, check if you accidentally blocked that number or set them to ignore.

Does the rest of your plan work?

And as @GR suggested try the simple rebooting of phone

@Tkay what's the make and model of your phone? If it's an IPhone. Enable sms, mms and group messaging . You may have been using Imessage over WiFi.
