@Arjay all four versions lists on gsmarena (https://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_moto_g6_play-9002.php#europe) have the required 850MHz and 1900Mhz 3G frequencies, so they will all work for calling, SMS, and 3G (actual 3G HSPA+) data. The US model has the most selection of LTE bands useful with PM, followed by Brazil (South American version). The European and Indian versions have far fewer.

Note that even "3G" data plans at Public Mobile are delivered over LTE (if available), with fallback to real 3G (HSPA+)

To add to rest of the info:

Motorola was one of the origial cell phone makers and was one of the most well known american brand, the most well known in the U.S and Canada brand of cell phone before all the other companies appeared. If its from the U.S and Canada you shouldnt have to worry if its a not too recent phone.

Motorola as a company is long gone, but Lonovo bough their cell phone business. Lenovo also bough/ owns IBMs computer/ laptop business..IBM Thinkpad

eh, well Martin Cooper who literally invented the (handheld) mobile telephone was a Motorola Employee at the time. So, Motorola literally was the first.

@CannonFodder Frequencycheck is a highly misleading site, because it lists PM operating a 2G GSM network they have never and will never do. Many have reached out to frequencycheck over the years to try to get them to correct this, but they never have. Becuase of this and the high potential for misinformation, the community strongly recommends against using that site for compability checks for Public Mobile usage. Although it has more missing models, https://willmyphonework.net seems far more accurate. Failing that, if your device isn't listed, it's down to a manual spec verification, which many of seasoned members are happy to help with if people post the model (as specific as possible with the model number).

Well, nevermind that that site has PM operating on 2G..... what gets me, is that it has 4 variants of the phone in question, in this thread, and it lists all 4 of them as NOT working on PM for either 3G or 4G..... now THAT'S some kind of "misinformation", especially when several people in this thread have checked on the specs, and figure it'll work, and one of them even has one, and confirms it works!

@CannonFodder actually, that part is probably accurate. There are at least 7 variants of G6 Play (https://www.phonemore.com/models/motorola/moto-g6-play/). All 4 listed on frequencycheck are Dual SIM models, while I don't believe any sold in North America are dual-SIM. You'll see this on many Samsung models too, where the European & Asian varaints are dual SIM but NA gets single. So FC is probably right (that the 4 listed are incompatible) albeit incomplete (missing at least 3 variants, at least 1 of which is)
