If you're on the $10 or $15 plans then you can also access your voicemail from a different phone.

With some thrid-party apps, a phone number can be added to a spam list. The app can be programmed to quickly answer the call and then hang up when the number matches anything in your list. This will prevent the person from leaving you a message. You do need to remove any blocks in the stock contact list/phonebook apps because you need to let the call ring through. The third-party apps allow the call to ring once and then they disconect the call automatically for you.

Set the "Busy/Decline" conditional call forward to an invalid or US number, ie:

*67*8080000000#

Then calls that are "blocked" by the native calling app, or by yourself manually, will be directed to a fast busy tone, instead of your voicemail where they can further annoy you.

To undo/reset this dial: ##67#

Unanswered calls, and calls when your phone is offline will continue to route to voicemail as usual.
