http://willmyphonework.net reports limited compatibility. If I were you I would consider taking it to a Public Mobile vendor and see if they can test a sim in it for you. Or use a friend's if you know other people on PM. The one @will13am has listed appears to have many more bands so it would be great if you have one like that.

Sub model is key. Personally I would shy away from using Asian phones on Canada. Generally they use different bands for 3G and TD-LTE and FD-LTE are totally different beasts. This is what I can find about cellular bands in India.
