4GLTE plans

I see a lot of talk about 4GLTE plans but I only see 3G plans (aside from the 1GB Data only plan for $30/month) when I'm on the "Plans" page. How can I sign up for an 4GLTE plan with talk and text?

Unless you're already a current customer with one of these plans, you can't - sorry. Your only option would be to take it over from someone else who no longer wants or needs the plan.

Public Mobile does not currently offer any plans with talk, text, and full-speed LTE data.

These days most of the talk about full speed LTE plans is hoping that it would come back one day. They disappeared with plan builder a couple of months ago. The so called 3G data is actually throttled LTE. It works quite well except for pure downloads and 4k video.

In addition to what computergeek said, PM has a rule that minutes add-on will not work with a plan without any minute.

Even if you want to get the $30 1GB LTE data plan. You cannot purchase the $5 500 CW minutes add-on to use with the $30 data only plan.

If you are looking for LTE plan with talk/text, it is cheaper to go with other providers.

3G is fine for Spotify , I use it all the time with no issues

3G is also good for youtube at 720p (even 1080p), which on a small cell phone screen 480 is sufficient most of the time. Hopefully, when 5G eventually comes out PM will remove the throttle to increase the current speeds.

Ironically, by reducing the speed to 3Mbps when connected to the LTE network, customers are less likely to purchase more expensive data add-ons. HIgher data amounts a lot easier to use when the speed is faster.

Their plans work perfectly for streaming. I use the iHeartRadio app and it doesn't buffer at all. I can stream radio with no issues.

I have an FM chip too but will only stream radio when I'm in an area of Quebec that doesn't get English radio. When I visit Quebec City the only options for English radio is CBC Radio one. So streaming radio in those areas work. Other then that I don't stream music.

It doesn't work on all Android phones. Next Radio app is only supported on 222 devices. According to their website I don't see flagship devices listed. It's mostly mid to low end phones.

FM sound quality is similar to mp3 quality or a little bit below? For most things such as talk and lower fidelity music it should be fine! Plus it's already transmitted over the air.. for free haha which could come in handy for some

The Samsung S10 and the LG G8(X) all have FM radio. Many low end phones from big brands don't have it they rather you buy data!
