I just purchased an iphone and a public mobile sim card. I do not have a pre-existing phone number. This will be a new service with a new phone number. When (if) I sign up with public mobile, is a phone number available for me through public mobile? I live in Crowsnest Pass AB (Coleman AB).

Yes you will be able to select a new number when you activate your SIM and account using the link provided by @sunflowershine .
