Make sure when you post or reply to a topic to uncheck email me when someone replies.

I know you have a satisfactory to you solution but there're also settings in your My Settings that control what all notification emails you get. I personally only have it set for if and when I get a private message.

You can choose which emails you receive by clicking on your avatar in the upper right corner —> select ‘My settings’ in the drop-down list —> select ‘Subscriptions & Notifications’ —> click on ‘Notification Settings’ to view your general setting and email notifications —> scroll down to email notifications and you can change what you want to be notified of by email.
