@AE_Collector wrote:

The difference here is that TELUS doesn't want to make PM a contender to take away all of their customers. PM is a low budget provider to hang on to those who would go elsewhere for low budget service. It would cost them nothing to remove the 3G speed throttle and would make their service more valuable in the eyes of the consumer... but.... there has to be some "hassles" that go along with low budget.

AE_Collector

I have to disagree. The low budget service hassle, you refer to, is the online DIY service with minimal human interaction.....and that is all it should be.....as per your definition of hassle. That can be lived with, by many of us. Telus may loose their prepaid customers to PM, but Telus/PM gains from taking customers from Lucky, Petro Canada, Speakout etc.

And keep in mind PM was Telus’s answer to the CTRC to provide lower cost mobile service. And keep in mind the community interaction here is probably very minimal when compared to PMs overall customer base. And a lot of community issues, but not all, is self imposed (not intentionally). So there are many many customers that are totally satisfied. There is service....as in customer service that is basically DIY, there is service.....as in mobile network service which should be as good as it is for any Bell or Telus customer. And I doubt that Telus, Bell or Rogers loose many post paid customers to the lower budget prepaid plans as many plans are paid by employers AND I would think most are too lethargic to make the effort to make the change and if they do....that is where the loyalty department kicks in to keep them on a post paid contract. And also keep in mind another cost cutting measure is, you are not paying a commission to buy into PM from a dealer at a kiosk in the mall. PM should not be referred to as low BUDGET service......it should be referred to a low COST service as they have trimmed away those costs.

And I remain....the system should work as flawless as possible. Which I would think, that is their intention.

REPOSTED FROM CUT AND PASTING

Here's a tip...even if you have a valid credit card on your file for autopay. A couple of days before your renewal date, manually add the equivilent plan $$ to your Available Funds. This seems to make the renewal process happy, minimizes unexpected plan disruption and you still get the $2 autopay reward.

Added bonus is you can check in on what's new with Public Mobile plans and any Notifications.

I think they should change how they do this and maybe more people would come or stay

So what is the point of auto-pay. I say if you offer it......do it right. Are you saying you don’t trust auto-pay?

I don't disagree with you at all. Autopay should be bullet-proof...but the renewal process has been glicthy for some users. By adding $$ to Available Funds ahead of renewal, those glitches are minimized.

I've heard on here that PM didn't allow credit card payments, only vouchers (I guess) in the early pre Telus days. So, some of this some of this is hold over from those days.
