Can’t send sms to certain numbers

New to public mobile and have a new number (seen all the porting posts). But I’m unable to send sms to certain numbers. At first thought it was all sms but have been able to reply to an sms sent recently. Any ideas on why it’s not working and how to fix it?

@jabell Did you recently come back from abroad? Instead of using your contacts try using the number directly to send an SMS. If it works, then the issue is with your contacts settings. Make sure each number users the +1 prefix.

So far no problems with calls in and out.

Data otherwise seems to work, can receive sms. Can send iMessages no problem. I recently discovered I could reply to an sms sent to me. But when attempting to send an sms to a long distance number keep getting failed to send. I’ve tried adding the +1 and removing it, and deleting the contact and reentering it but so far still will not work.

Apple folks can pipe in but isn't there a setting in iMessage to use SMS? Set that.

Why would I want to turn iMessage off when it’s the part that currently works?

Not sure who that's in reply to.

It's not turning off iMessage...it's setting iMessage to be able to send SMS...or something like that. Not an Apple guy.

And as asked did you possibly buy a US texting roaming add-on (or bundled) 10 or so days ago? If so then restart the phone.
