Does the bonus data that was recently added get used up automatically if I go over my monthly limit or do I have to do something. Due to Hurricane have used much more data than I usually would and still have no power 6 days later

Me too. Nope, when. Your plan data ends, the 1 GB will automatically start.

Once you deplete your data in your plan then the bonus data will be used until it is used up.

On the note of the add-on data kicking automatically when plan data runs out, remember that your regular plan must still be active for the add-on to work. An add-on cannot work by itself of the main plan is suspended/hasn't been paid for.
