When you activate, the system lets you customize the last 4 digits. It rarely works unless you pick a new area code as very limited numbers are available in popular cities.

You are allowed to change PM phone number once per 30 days cycle.

You may also want to check other provider for phone number and then ported over to PM.

You can get a Bell SIM card for $1 from eBay and activate a Bell prepaid. If you cannot find a good number, you cancel the activation and try it next month.
