called public mobile and they told me no and it has to be unlocked

From my own exerpeience, the 3 Telus phones I have tried all have worked with Public Mobile's network. It should not be an issue.

@north450 That is not true. I am happy to confirm to you that all Telus phones (even if they're still locked) will work on PM without any problem. PM is fully owned by, and uses the Telus network.

If you have access to PM support on the phone, you must already be on a legacy plan, so you can merely put your existing PM SIM in any Telus phone, and Bob's your uncle!

Yep - same goes for Koodo phones. Whether locked or not, they'll work just fine with a PM SIM card.

I have a phone strictly locked to the telus network and it works perfectly on the PM network, the only phones that need to be unlocked are those that are outside of telus/koodo network, just know that from my own personal experience since being with PM!!
