Bring back GPRS/EDGE signal

Dear Public Mobile, GPRS/2G might be already outdated.

But honestly GPRS/2G signal (still) have much better quality for calling and text (mostly no call drop).

Would you mind consider to bring back that GPRS/2G signal?

@syantixmanjahHighly unlikely.. the protocol itself is riddled with security problems, the towers had been replaced or repurposed.

@GinYVR What's mean about security probs? Privacy? Do we nowadays (even) living with no privacy? Sorry I'm not really familiar with technology.

@syantixmanjahGSM/GPRS phones can be cloned very easily, calls can be intercepted without anyone knowing. The system was designed without the realisation of the computing power we have easily accessible today. What you do with your personal privacy is your choice, however bringing 2G technology back makes everyone using the system vulnerable. The only hold out in Canada is Rogers usually out in the wilderness, but they are also retiring their system soon.

Telus network did not havre 2G. Only Rogers supports 2G in Canada. It is hard for Telus/PM to bring back 2G that they never had.

Why would they Bring back something they never had.? When GSM was a thing Bellus Network refused to even have a GSM Network because they did not think GSM Network was worth the investment.

Sorry, while I can't say what Telus has planned network-wise, I can say with almost absolute certainty that Public Mobile will not implement this. There's nothing to bring back since Telus and Bell didn't have it to begin with. The only way this would happen would be if Public Mobile allowed free roaming on Rogers towers (very doubtful because it would lilely be reserved for only Telus or Koodo customers). Even so, Rogers will be shutting down the 2g network fairly soon.

Every provider in North America are shutting down their 2G network to use those frequency for LTE.
