How to check Android app compatibility.

Is there a way to see if apps are compatible with a spesific Android device with downloading or haveing acces to the device?

@PoogzleyIf you go to Google App store pick any app there is a section that will say "Requires Android" that is the Android OS .. just match that to any devices you want or thinking of purchasing usually the later ones will work with apps designed for earlier versions YMMV.

If you mean via the Play Store then they tell you that when you select the app.

Without having the device, the only way that I l know of would be to ask someone with the same model.

Each app supports for specific Android version and newer versions.

You need to check with Google Play store to find out whether your android will support the app which you are interested in.

I still have an old Moto G first gen kicking around at home with Android 4. I cannot install any app which requires Android 5 or newer version.

What version of Android are you using ? The latest version of Android is 9 which is Pie. It would most likely be compatiable with most apps.

The play store doesn't let you download apps that won't work on your phone. Google has figured it all out for you.

No, it's not. An Android app needs to be verified as compatible with your device and software version or Play Store won't let you install it. This doesn't mean that there aren't ways to fool the app store or to manually install apps.

Normally, most people wouldn't take such steps. It would involve installing a custom ROM that has been coded to so that device pretends to be a different models. This is sometimes done with some lessrer known models or on devices that aren't Google Play certified.
