Today, Nov 8, 2018, I received an email asking me to participate in a Public Mobile survey. It originated from a company: cicicresearch.com. It had a lot to support its authenticity — an SSL secured web site and displaying the Public Mobile logo on its pages. Please see the two attached snapshots.

However, I am skeptical about its bona fide and will not participate in the survey. I’m posting this to inform PM users so as to be fore-warned.

Also, if PM determines it as a fake & phishing scam, they may consider proceeding legally on this.

I do believe they email out surveys to people from time to time. Although the only time I've submitted one is right after signing up with PM

Looks like it could be a real survey. I don't think it's out of the question for Public Mobile to find out how their customers are doing to improve their service. That's not necessarily a bad thing.

Good on you @sa7375 for coming on here to find out if they are actually sending these out to be on the safe side.

Surveys are essential for a company to get a feedback on its products & services and is certainly welcome but it shouldn’t land as an unexpected surprise on a client’s desk because he/she may not trust its credentials and avoid filling it. I would therefore suggest that PM inform its clients at the following two occasions when commissioning a survey:

New Clients. Soon after a new client signs in, he/she should be informed to expect an email from cicicresearch.com (hired by PM) to participate in a survey within 2-4 weeks to provide a feedback on their sign-in experience.

Old Clients. Whenever PM commissions a survey, it should inform all its clients because forewarning will motivate them to trust and participate in the exercise.

Finally, why is informing the clients necessary? It is necessary for the very reasons I posted this. I didn’t trust the originator of the survey, considered it a scam because it’s common practice these days for businesses to collect data from uninformed users. Indeed if I had known I would have completed the survey.

@sa7375:

Ok. Forewarning is good. But then the scammer sees that as the window of opportunity. Swoops in. Collects some data. Then not long after, the real survey arrives and the customer is left thinking wth.

I generally ignore surveys anyway. If a human calls with a survey I'm happy to do it but I tell them up front that I won't answer demographic questions. Not my problem if that doesn't work for them.
