Talk and text US roaming

Hi,

I just added 10 day Talk & text for $15 on my plan today (no data)

Do I need to activate anything on my phone itself/ or change any settings?

or do I just use it as normal?

When you arrive in the states you need to see that you're connected to either AT&T or T-Mobile. If not you'll need to scan for and find and connect to either.

Did you do both steps to buy the add-on? Deposit money, buy add-on. It can be kinda confusing for some.

Make sure that you have added and purchased the add-on. When you arrive in the US, make sure you enable roaming.

Yes I did both steps to add the Add-on (add funds, then purchase add on)

How do I scan to find AT&T or T mobile (sorry I'm not a techie :(...)

@cmd73 Make sure roaming is turned on your phone. Since Public Mobile is prepaid you should always have roaming turned on anyways.

Here’s how to enable for iPhones and Androids:How to enable roaming on an iPhone:

Select Settings > Cellular > move ‘Data Roaming’ to the ‘ON’ position.

How to enable roaming on Android:

Open ‘Settings’.
In ‘Wireless & Networks’, select ‘More’.
Choose ‘Mobile Networks’.
- On some Android devices, you may need to choose ‘Battery & Data Manager’, and then ‘Data Delivery’

Usually, your phone will automatically search for the carrier while roaming. Depending on your phone, it should be under phone settings. Look for carrier setting option.

As long as roaming option is on, you should have no problem while in US.

...just a question though -do I need to enable 'data roaming' even if I am only using talk and text?

@cmd73, if you wish to send MMS (pic or audio text) you will need data roaming turned on, but should not need the data addon for roaming.

Note, I've not roamed in the US, so if I'm mistaken, I hope someone will correct my statement here.

It's best you do set roaming ON just in case. Better to be safe then sorry.
