A pretty short story: bought a SIM card for my mother-in-law, $20/month calls only plan, came home, realized she needed text messages to move Whatsapp etc. accounts, so went online and changed the plan to $25/month calls and text messages.

On my credit card, in the pending (currently) transactions, there are $20+HST charge and $25+HST charge. Is that normal?

I was expecting to see only $5+HST extra, not the whole new $25+HST.

Thanks!

@NorthGraves: Yeah it's a funny assumption. Maybe pro-rated daily as you get through your plan. But then there are the consumption parts like data where... what?... you have to calculate the pro-rate based on how much you've used? It can all get very messy very fast.

So yeah...here it's just "so you want a different plan NOW... alrighty then there you go". You would have seen the option for future dating the change but you had an assumption that it would all be somehow pro-rated. Alas.

Didn't realize simply charging the increment was a very complicated matter. Didn't need a refund.

That is the way pre-paid goes. The great thing about pre-paid you will never be charged overages!!
