MMS (Picture Messaging) and Non-Smart Phones

I have managed to send (but not receive) MMS messages on my flip phone. Since there is not a lot on this forum pertaining to non-smart phones this post is to document the steps it took so that anyone looking for help might be able to have a starting point for their phone. These steps are based on a LG A341.

You will notice very quickly that the order of these steps matter.

Legend:

Blue is the main menu.

Green are menu options in the bottom corners.

Set Up Access Point

Settings -> Connection -> Access Points -> New

Connection Title: PM

Authentication: No Auth

APN: sp.mb.com

Save

Set Up Internet Profile

Settings -> Connection -> Internet Profiles -> New

Profile Name: PM

Use Proxy: Off

Access Point: PM

Save

Set Up Message Center

Messaging -> Message Settings -> Multimedia Message -> Message Center -> Options -> New

Name: Public Mobile

MMSC URL: http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mb/mmsc

Internet Profile: PM

Save

Activate *This is very important and easily overlooked*

Restart Your Phone *also easy to overlook*

As mentioned above I can only send not receive picture messages. I will update this post when/if I manage to get the receiving half working. Also if you have different steps for your make/model of non-smart phone I will gladly add them.

Completely agree with @Martin. Great initiative @Charanth182 - this really will be helpful for customers who aren't using smart phones and wanting to use MMS.

In addition, I must confess that the choices of tags in your post made me smile

@Charanth182, Like I had said in my Previous replies that it was possible to do what you had wanted to do on a Flip Phone but it was complicated but I am glad you got it to work

Using this thread and another I got the MMS inbound and outbound working now.

but the browser still disconnects on launch

the menus are exactly as the first post described

Does the browser work when you are on WiFi?

@geopublicplease go "should" deserving smartphones in another thread where your comment fits. The models here were mentioned from the get go here. These kinds of dumbphones have browsers and support mms but do not have wifi regardless of what you think they "should" have

That phone brings back some memories in the sense that I remember a few years back that a store would have doorcrashers for that model selling them for $8 each..
