@gabbie337, I've done factory resetting a few times. If you want to keep your contacts and settings, you have to perform iCloud backup before you proceed. Otherwise, it's ok to factory reset any time.

Factory resetting doesn't consume minutes/texts; however, you should be careful. There is a known issue with iPhone eating up texts when iMessage is turned on. So, after factory resetting is done, make sure logon to iCloud and turn iMessage off. Or, keep iCloud off. Otherwise, your iPhone will keep sending text messages to 474663. Below is for details about this issue:

https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Discussions/outgoing-messages-to-474663/td-p/66707

I just got a phone and I didn’t set it up as a new iPhone by accident, so my old info went into my new phone and it took up all the storage, I need to factory reset it to set it up as a new iPhone so I have my storage back but I also just got prepaid minutes today for my new phone with public mobile and I want to know if I will lose them by factory resetting my phone? I can’t afford to lose them but I have to reset my phone either way. If I take out my SIM card before resetting will I get to keep my public mobile texting/calling minutes? Or will resetting my phone make me lose my minutes at all?

I would imagine what the phone records in it's usage data and what is recorded on the sim (thus by PM) would be separate.

Factory reset should not affect your public mobile account however it may delete the PM APN settings so you may need to set them up again after.

So everything else will be deleted but I’ll still be able to continue texting and calling people after factory resetting and starting over? Just nervous about it because some people are saying I’ll lose them and some people are saying I won’t. They’re just prepaid minutes also, not on a plan

If you are worried, just take the sim out, but it shouldn't affect your minutes or data usage.

Think about it this way... You can take your sim, put it in another compatible phone, and use it... That doesn't affect the number of minutes or data logged with the carrier... So how would resetting your phone affect it?

Resetting the phone has nothing to do with the account. You can factory reset the phone all day long. It will just go through the activation servers to re activate iMessage and for I tunes. It’ll be okay. I done it a couple times. Just used up text messages and data.
