i want to switch my phone from Freedom Mobile to PM, but i am concerned that my Freedom account will be closed when i port my number to PM. I don't want the Freedom account to close because i have a second cell on that account which belongs to my partner and she wants to stay with Freedom. is there a way to ensure that i can port my number to PM without inadvertently shutting down my account at Freedom Mobile? thanks

Your partner will stay with Freedom without any problem. As my mom just ported to PM from Freedom Mobile and my dad still stays with Freedom.

I have done two portings from freedom and didn't have any issues. Make sure both numbers (freedom and pm) are active then you request a port with PM. Once porting is completed, you can test it by calling your freedom number and it will ring on you PM phone.

thanks to everyone who wrote in. when you say "make sure both accounts are active" i understand this to mean i should not port at the same time as i activate my sim. is this correct? i looked at the activation process and noticed that one can port as part of activation but it's not clear how to "request a port" later.

sonia

As said, I have both (freedom vs PM) sims are in active. PM sim is on the temp number, then request a port from PM, your freedom service will be cancelled automatically once ported. From there on, any calls to your freedom number will be ring on your PM phone.
