I've recently been receiving MMS messages from 2 phone numbers.

One being from one of my close contacts and the other from an unknown but local number.

The message simply contains an attachment to download, nothing else. I blocked the messages from the unknown number, however, what worries me is that i'm getting these messages from one of my contacts (who confirmed that they did not send the message).

Is it possible that my (or their) phone is compromised by a virus in some way?

Has anyone else experienced this?

What steps should be taken to ensure device(s) are safe?

I am currently using an Android phone, my contact is using iPhone and we are both with Public Mobile.

Thx in advance for any help

@trinifry Pretty sure it's their phone that has been compromised not your's. Do not open any attachment. It's not a Public Mobile issue.

Ask your friend to turn off Messages, wait a few miniutes, then turn it back ON. That will at least reset message centre for their phone.
