U.S> Texts

We live in Grand Forks B.C., which is close to the US border. We get messages that we can't use the phone because we don't have US roaming, when we are sitting in our house in Grand Forks BC

Go to your network settings and manually select Public Mobile in the list of networks.

Don't allow your device to roam or automatically select the network.

EDIT: This is likely happening due to the proximity to a US-based mobile tower compared to the TELUS network of towers.

and try manually selecting network "3G ONLY" or WCDMA only,

and do Rebooting your phone ,This is quick and simple,to refreshing your network,

*what is meant by rebooting the device turn off and turn it back on.

@bassettt493-gm - if you turn off your Roaming setting on your phone, will those messages go away?

If you do go to the USA, you will need to remember to turn it back on though.

I drive through GF frequently and always get the Welcome to USA text. I just ignore and manual select PM. The US border is just a 5 minute drive to the south of Hwy 3.

@bassettt493-gm In your mobile phone settings. Look for your mobile network options. Remove automatic. Then manually connect to Public Mobile network.

This will stop those messages.

Hi @bassettt493-gm You phone is set to Automatic for Network connection, go to the network and manually pick Public Mobile from the list instead of Automtaic.

If you are not sure how to do it, give us the model of the phone and we can walk you through

Just keep in mind that each time you reboot your phone, at least with Android (mine is 8.1) that setting reverts back to automatic and has to be changed back to manual again...
