no phone service, should i buy a second sim?

I've contacted mods about being locked out of my account. It has been down for 36 hours. At what point should I just buy a sim from another company and use it only for calls? I have public mobile data but no text or phone service for the some reason. I have a dual sim phone...wondering what my options are to stay connected.

With your data you can use fongo or hangouts to make calls ... waiting for a reply from the moderator.

I usually use whatsapp...but can only call others on whatsapp. Will try those. Thanks.

@bruce_pm Fongo will actually give you a Canadian number, so you can make or receive calls with that.

Yeah you're in a bit of a mess.

I wonder if you'd be willing to put some money into your account. Using the 611 service, if you have a credit card registered on file you could pay in $20. If you can get a voucher of different values then you could use that. There are online options but they cost more than from a store.

But I imagine it would be a bit of a hail mary. It's a known trick to pay in an extra nominal sum that somehow kicks the service but in your case I don't know.

Give this a try @bruce_pm ....take the PM sim card from slot #1 and try it in slot #2. Let us know if this resolves for you. Good luck and welcome to Public Mobile.

I tried the sim in another phone today though and had the same issue...every time I call I get a message that I don't have a plan.

Log into My Account. Make sure your plan shows as ACTIVE. Click on Plan Details. You should see a breakdown of the plan you subscribed to.

@bruce_pm That is weird. As other mentioned, you can download an app to make free call and text at the moment while you have data.

I will double check with the slot you put your SIM in and make sure you are in the right slot.

@bruce_pmsaid he tried the sim in a different phone and got the same symptoms. Therefore his phone is likely not an issue.
