I refered a friend to public mobile. He lives in Victoriaville, Québec. Usually, the area code for Victoriaville is 819, but public mobile gave him a 873 area codec When I try to call him, I have a message saying that the call isn't included in my plan, even if it's a public mobile number.

These should be "Province-wide" - "local" calls, not "long distance" calls

I'm guessing wireless coverage might be Bell towers - what people call "Belus" - not Telus towers. And Bell might impose different calling zones within the affected area.

@jazzeux, where are you lacated, and what is your area code? If you are in 819, it shouldn't be long distance (I am assuming you have a provincial plan).

Please elaborate.

Yes I'm in 819 and both of us are using public mobile. That call should be included in my plan.

I think you might need to flag the @CS_Agent or send them a message to get this problem sorted out. It might be your phone/service or your friend's phone/service.

Check the software settings on your phone to confirm that nothing is blocking "long distance" calls. Maybe restart the phone, not necessary but it can sometimes correct strange glitches. Maybe have your friend do the same on his phone.

I see on google that it's common for numbers to appear as "long distance", although they are not billed long distance charges when covered by the plan.

I did a search and I can't see anything in my phone settings. It's probably a problem with the network.

Rebooted the phones. Not working.

There are bugs with how provincial numbers are provisioned in the accounts with province wide calling. It has been mentioned by the moderators previously. Just contact them with the details and they can fix it.
