Do making changes month to month affect any data rollover?

So basically if I got a plan with 1gb of data first month, use 600mb of it (leaving me with 400mb rollover data), can i just change my plan for the second month to 500mb of data and use my rollover data?

@violetpike In a word, no. Data only rolls over within a plan's cycle. Any changes you make to your base plan constitutes a new plan, and the moment a new plan takes effect, that is considered a new cycle, which wipes the slate clean. So, with what you propose, none of the remainder of the 1GB would carry over to your new plan - you would only have the 500MB data allotment of the new plan to use.

If want to you make changes to your plan while not losing any time (and data) that you've prepaid for, you can future-date a plan change to begin when your current cycle runs out. After you select your new plan, click on "Change plan on next renewal date". Otherwise, if you click on "Change plan now," the new plan would start immediately and you'd lose any time left in your current cycle.

Edit to add:
The foregoing refers to data that is included in a base plan. Any data bought as an "add-on" is independent of base plans and will remain available until consumed. Base plan data is always used before add-on data.

As SD08 stated, the data included in your prepaid base plan works the same as the post-paid plans of other carriers. For example, if you have a 90 day plan with 1.5 GB, the data is good for that 90 days. When the 90 days are up, if you have used 1 GB, the 500 mb remaining data is tossed aside, and your cycle begins with another 1.5 GB data. If you purchased a 1GB add-on, any unused MB of that 1 GB is carried over to your next cycle.

GC

EDITED for punctuation.

I am confused between the 2 answers. Unless I read wrong SD08 is saying that if you don't change your plan your data rolls over month to month but you're saying if you are on a 90 day plan your unused data gets thrown out?

No, data does not roll over. As an example, I am on a 4.5 GB plan for 30 days. I've used 2.5 GB, and my plan renews tomorrow. When it renews I lose the 2 GB that I didn't use, and start over again at 4.5 GB for the next 30 day cycle. The only time there is rollover is when you purchase an add on.

GC

However, in the 90-day plan, your data will carry over to the next month within the 90-day cycle. That is, you can use all the alloted data on day 1, or leave all of it for day 90, if you like.

My previous reply was addressed to the OP's situation, which was asking how a plan change affected data. A plan change is considered a new cycle, which will not include data from any previous cycle, so my first statement still applies.
