I bought 500mb of US data. I get a message that says my data roaming plan doesn’t cover text messaging. How could that be? Data is for texting right?

Yes and no. You can use a data based text app to send texts but for receiving texts to your phone number you need a text plan.

@JosephP99 Standard texting does not use data, but you can use Whats App/Viber/ect to text with data.

You can buy the add-on for texting in US if you want for 8$.
