https://mobilesyrup.com/2017/12/04/rogers-increase-wireless-network-spending/

Rogers needs to spend more on their network. When I was with Freedom Mobile, I found Freedom's download speeds to be faster. I know Freedom has some bad areas with reception issues but that will change in the next couple of years. Freedom's speeds will leave Rogers in the dust unless they start investing more heavily on their infrastructure. Rogers has the money to spend since they did make a net wireless profit of 2.138 billion dollars.

Telus and Bell in my opinion have the best networks in Canada.

I agree.

I think Rogers' home internet is very good. Now it's time for Rogers to focus on their cellular network.

@Michael77, you appear to have a need for sheer speed. I hope you have gigabit internet and speed test the connection regularly. 😀

That said, quality of service is not measured by a single figure of merit. Speed is but one attribute. For most applications, latency has taken a front seat to speed. If you think freedom is good, think again. It may be fine when you are the only one on the tower. Load it up and watch performance sag. One of their issues is tower density or lack of same. At the salt mine, there is only one tower close by. I really enjoyed the service back in the day when very few of us used wind. By the time I left, a lot of people in the building were on wind. Without additional infrastructure, they network just can't cope. This is another figure out merit, consistency. Anyway, all the major brands are fine. They may have their weaknesses here and there. By and large, the experience is relatively consistent. That's all we need to consume the meager amount of data allotment each month.

FWIW, Rogers gives me the best user experience at home. I live in a neighborhood where NIMBYism is arguably the highest in the 416 region. There won't a lot of change no matter how much the carriers throw at the problem.

When I was a Rogers customer, the Rogers network was a joke in my home area. This was during the pre-LTE days. At the time, both Mobilicity and Wind had better data speeds. Even more shocking was that both also had better signal strength/coverage (in the Mimico area of Toronto), while Rogers had dead spots when you stepped into a regular house-type buildings.

As always, speeds and coverage are going to vary greatly based on area and of the tower serving your location.
