This is actually the very article that brought Public Mobile to my attention and eventually caused me to switch, even though I do not have an iPhone. I'm not sure what the point of posting it now is though? To try and get them to offer the same thing again?

No, not at all. I like some of the things Telus said:

"There was discussion of whether Telus was throttling Public Mobile download speeds, but the company told users in their community forums last year “No, PM traffic is not throttled.”

"As long as you keep renewing this promo plan, you’ll get to keep it, says Public Mobile. So that means do not let it expire after 90 days! Just setup auto renew and you won’t have to worry about a thing."

You get to keep it. They did not say that they would not raise the price at some point. No company would give up that ability.

This is very true (not of PM - edit: remains to be seen, but other carriers do this all the time).

- Your plan is locked in, and you will always pay the price of the plan

- The price of the plan is not always not locked in, so the plan price may go up

Rogers is notorious for this (as an example); I hope that PM does not do that. On another note, maybe in a few years time a $40/month plan for 4GB province wide may look like a rip-off as compared to what else is out there in the future*

*Rogers used to have 6GB super plan that was 60/month. When people went to renew it they were told they could not get a subsidised phone at that cost. It seemed like an outrage at the time, but now paying $60/month for 6GB is not that great a deal as compared to what can be had (in some provinces, or some regios of some provinces)

I hope you are right. I tend to assume the opposite. At some point it will look cheap and PM could make the claim they are losing money on the plan and raise prices. Regardless, at least we get to enjoy the benefits of the plan for right now.

I'm probably not the right person to make an educated guess since I have been with the company almost a year. Given the popularity of the fall 2016 promo it would be horrible PR to change the price less than a year later. Especially since the CRTC just setup PM to have an influx of customers come December when everyone's device will be unlocked.

Fido (well, Rogers) hiked the rate of the $40/4GB plan just the other day, that matched the PM promo from last November (to $45).

interesting that Fido increased the $40/4GB match price $5 less then a year into it.

Rogers/Fido always give me that impression. They try and attract you from the start then later say the price went up, or roaming is $1/minute etc etc. So they suckered in some people at $40/4GB then wait a few months and start upping the price (or taking away other services spoitfy etc).
