Better is very subjective. Only you know how much you want, can, or are willing to pay, and what you need out of a plan. There aren't any plans available that aren't already advertised, and you're free to choose from them.

There is an option to create your own plan that you can tailor to suit you. Just FYI sometimes adding more to the plan will not affect or may lower the cost of the total plan (eg. with Canada-wide talk and Interational text if you add 500MB data it cost $5 less then if you get no data). I agree with @computergeek541 that "better" is always relative and depends on what your needs are. While the "build your own plan" feature is something I think sets Public Mobile apart (and, yes please, as you mention, people should take the time to try different options, the bundle discounts often get you better value with the third choice), these days the best bang for the buck is in the ready made special offers.
