topic Using a new SIM card in Get Support

Hello.

My son lost his Iphone6. I have an old Iphone 5s which I can give him. Since he will need a new SIM card I am wondering if I can use a SIM card from another company or if I absolutely need a Public Mobile SIM card? Also, once we get the new SIM card what is the procedure to add the new SIM code in order to keep his old phone number?

Thank you.

You could get a SIM from elsewhere, activate it there with a plan and then port the number from here to there thereby keeping the number.

Just in case you were attempting to use an old sim from a provider that is no longer active.

Yes, that's exactly it. Sorry if my post was a little unclear.

I want to stay with Public Mobile but I was wondering if I could buy a SIM card from another phone provider. That way I would not have to wait for the card to come in the mail.

Since then, I found an alternative way to get a PM SIM card. They now sell them at Walmart.

Thanks to everyone for their help.
