The Android tool in Settings\Network and Internet\Data Usage says 80% of my 4.5 GB contract, but I got kicked off mobile data by Public Mobile today, and had to purchase a 200MB add on to keep going. The were 4 or so possible reasons for my data to stop, displayed on the link Public Mobile provide by SMS, of which exceeded data limit was the only plausible one. Paid my $10 and, hey presto, data again. So why the mismatch? Android has the correct billing cycle and data limit set - but I ran out of data when Android was still at 3.8GB

@trogstig, using the stock Android data usage is not advised for Public Mobile, as the plans available here are not monthly. The plans here are 30- or 90-day cycles.

I'd advise you look at Data Witness PM from the Google Play store. It's free, created by a community user @IWIK , and it supports both 30- and 90-day cycles.
