I got a SIM from The Mobile Shop 12 days ago and thought that there was a deal that they would give me a free card and do the signup stuff for me. Of course, when I got there, they thought they were pretty wonderful just selling me the SIM. I said "nevermind" just give me the SIM and I did the rest myself when I got home. I got in on the last day of the unlimted+4.5 for $40. No complaints. But, I did feel a bit deprived by having to pay for the card, etc.

I contacted the private support here and they got back to me. But, they have no record of any freebies being available on Oct 14. I'm sure I didn't just make it up myself, but I can't find anything online either. So ... does anyone have a link I can send of CS on this?

BTW, love the deal, etc.

Recent promos have all required in store activation.

My recollection is that the $10 credit for new activations requires providing a referral during activation.

I think that you had the wrong weekend. Last weekend was the flash promo for free SIM and free 2nd month. Previous flash promo was end of September weekend.

Did you use a friend referral on activation? That would have gotten you $10 credit to cover the cost of SIM card.

Thanks all for the replies. I'm not sure that I got scammed or anything. I do know that I didn't ask for a free SIM and activation at the store just because I made it up in my mind. I'm sure I must have read it somewhere! Just can't find it again 🙂 If I can CS will give me a credit ... but it's not worth worrying too much about.

@mellobob, I hate that! I do this all the time. My family members would say something to me, and a week later, I repeat what they said to me, and they say, "Huh?" we didn't say that! I need to record these dang family conversations!

I can't remember if it was Mobile Syrup, that gives us promo deals besides here in the community. Here was one from October 19th and October 15th

Well, it looks like I made up the deal in my little head 🙂 No idea why I thought I could/should get a free month or SIM 🙂

And, in all seriousness, this is still the best deal around. Not having phone support is an odd feeling at first, but when I recall just how awful phone support usually is ... well, the only thing I'm missing is a reason for my blood pressure to spike!
