Is there a change that telus will close down public mobile once freedom mobile makes their network better.i see no reason why telus would have public mobile once freedom mobile has good coverage. Especially when people start getting $5 off for loyalty. I feel like public mobile isn't going to stay for a long time.Really hoping it doesn't but this is what i feel.

WoW , what is with the sudden pessimism in this post. I don't see anything going on at least in the short to medium range, after that who knows what kind of opportunities will rise. Wind/ Freedom lost a lot of customers not because they didnt have LTE but lost because their network was bad,,, very bad, and kept getting worse and they didn't even bother caring. Some reps in Ottawa stores actually told to change if I can since basic service let alone data that was almost impossible to get even outside rush hours.for at least a good 4 months, and for them to fix that and work on their LTE , it will take time

Lot of conjecture here. I could throw out a bunch of wild guesses like Shaw will be able to make something out of Freedom Mobile. Perhaps they will huddle with Videotron and decide to be a western concern only, operating only in areas where they can bundle the cellular service with other home services. So, it follows that Public Mobile won't disappear but will shrink and follow Freedom, operating out west only??? Woe is me, I don't live in Shaw territory. Should I move so that I don't risk losing Public Mobile as my carrier? Come on Oracles, give me some help here, such a tough decision.

@XCanadaX, bottom line is this, if you need 8 gigs a month, no point in wasting time talking about a service that falls way, way short of this. Time to shop elsewhere.

If your competition improves to be as good as you, then you should just shut down? PM uses the Bell/Telus network. Do you really see Freedom improving their network to be better than Bellus? And that Bellus won't make improvements of their own to keep up?

A major reason Telus owns and operates PM is so they have an entry in the discount/no-frills market space. I'm sure the loyalty and other various rewards would not be offered if PM hadn't already factored that into its profit margins. As long as PM can make a profit, or at least not lose money, then it makes sense for Telus to keep it going, if for no other reason than to deny that same space that it occupies to its competitors. What weakens the competition strengthens Telus. Freedom still has a long way to go before they can boast the same network as PM. I wouldn't worry yet and I'm certainly not going to jump ship and forego the savings and quality network on a "what if" that may never happen.

Even though freedom mobile is getting a new spectrum, telus is in a really good place to compete with them because telus has got Public mobile which is already set up well with better LTE coverage and a robust network.

Telus' answer to freedom is Public Mobile.

I really don't think Shaw will do much with Freedom. Shaw is a 'get it done for cheap'. Look at ShawDirect home satellite. 7 years ago they introduced the 'current' lineup of receivers. Next month they are rolling out the new 800 series lineup. The only difference most can see is that it offers wifi for Video on demand instead of wired, and a larger harddrive. I would be surprised if Freedom expands very much. Besides, anyone who lives outside a mjor city, it's not even available.
