What do you mean by charges ?

If you have a free sim card you will need to pay just for your plan.

The service is prepaid so you will pay first and use after. No surprise charges.

If you are talking about the recent instore promotion where they gave you a free sim card and 1 month service then no, you will not be charged. However when your service expires in 30 days you will have to make a payment if you want to continue service. Unless auto-pay has been set up, log into your "self serve" and look around. Look into the dates, look into the auto payment method and you will be able to find your answer. We canno't see your account.

This is a "pre-paid" service so unless you have "auto-pay" set up, your next month does not exist, unless you pay for it.

I think some people were given free activated sim cards as a promo.

If this is the case use the phone as you like there are no charges army all. If you want to continue using the service after the free month then you will need to pay for the plan you want to have. And create an account if you have not done so.
